Designed by Jean Nouvel and inspired by the local arabic architecture, the Louvre Abu Dhabi opens November 11th 2017 on the Saadiyat Island after 10 years of construction.
The museum hosts 23 permanent galeries under a 180m2 dome, the collection offers a body of works integrating history of ancient civilizations, cultures and religions. For its opening year, french museums (Versailles, The Louvre and the Musée D’Orsay.) are lending paintings and other work of arts to the Louvre Abu Dhabi.Visitors will have the opportunity to admire a folio from the Blue Qu’ran and a gothic bible among others. Through this project, France and The Emirates hope to deliver a message of tolerance. The Louvre Abou Dhabi opens the path to more museums openings, the next ones being the Guggenheim and Zayed.
